'Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing'

Firstly, thank you so much for your resopnse to my photo yesterday, it really meant a lot to me.

Bleh. Couldn't really be bothered to take a proper photo today. So here's a cliche, could-be-better one :p

Spent all day trying to catch up on art (and TV :p) Art exam tomorrow. I feel like I should care more...meh. I don't want to go back to school. I can't think about it at all right now. On a side note...does anyone happen to know of any artists who work with stereotypes/breaking stereotypes? Maybe a bit controversial? Thanks! :]
Lovely composition and perspective. Also, I like the black and white

I agree with Kerri!

Yeah, there was that artist who did the sculpture of the disabled pregnant woman. Hmm, that probably won't mean much. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4247000.stm Dunno if that's what you're after though.

Jeez, why don't you just get to the point and tell us how you really feel? ;) I couldn't resist...I think this is nicely composed, and I like the black and white. I will look up artists for you, see what I can come up with.

I love the work of Jamie McCartney who has a web site called Brighton Body Casting. He works with the self image of people but has recently specialised in genitalia, both male and female. He did a whole wall of cast willies and another installation of ladies parts. There's a few good videos of women being cast (not graphic, nothing is shown) and talking about self image and societies take on it.

Cubism and surrealism both hammer away at stereotypes, I reckon.

Even on a blah day, your photo is a delight. You might want to check out Valerie Hird, who is working to break down stereotypes of Middle Eastern Women with a project called "Maiden Voyages." It's kind of timely, given what's going on in the world.

This looked like a windmill on the thumbnail and it even took me a second o see it was pencils when I made it big. Very interesting.

Nice shot. Lots of imagination in this photo. Good luck on your exam

Love this. It's different, because you greyscaled it. Really brings the textures of the pencils out. :)
