It's been Time to Talk day today and I've been so pleased to have been able to take part in a few different things. From having a meeting about mental health awareness campaigns this morning, to a productive counselling session followed by sharing TTC paraphernalia around the library and then heading to Leeds to chat to Emma for a while (and discuss how we're going to change the mental health world) and then meeting a friend.
Last week I wouldn't have been able to do this, processing a conversation was too much for me, the chance of me being able to get to Leeds would have been incredibly slim and having the energy/brain space to do all of that in one day would have been impossible. This week I have been absolutely delighted to be able to concentrate enough to take some notes in lectures and have some important conversations.
No, I'm not 'better', there's still a lot to work on, but there have been some incredibly positive steps in the right direction this week (partly due to an increase in medication, I imagine but also due to taking things a bit more slowly and focusing on self-care.). So I just want to say to anyone who's going through a mental health difficulty right now, however horrible and dark things are today, tomorrow might be brighter. Keep talking. Keep sharing. Keep listening to your friends. It's important.
