Blueberries

I’ve never really got excited about blueberries until I started growing my own...so tasty!
Ooh yummy. There's a plan. I love blueberries. I wonder if they will grow here? They probably will as I think we have similar climates, on the west coasts of our respective continents?

@seacreature I’m sure they would. I would never have thought of growing them because I thought they needed a much colder climate, but this one was a gift and must be suited to the heat because it’s doing well. Doesn’t like the midday summer sun though.

Homegrown blueberries are great. Second only to wild Maine blueberries. You caught the silvery bloom on the berries, too.

Lovely photo! I’ve never had homegrown or wild blueberries but I bet they’re wonderful! We tried growing them but the bushes died out.

@beckyk365 thanks Becky. I thought I was going to lose this one and then in the last few months it’s gone nuts! Lots of lovely new, lush growth.

@beckyk365 @narayani Blueberries like acidic soil. Sphaghnum moss mulch and coffee grounds scratched into the soil will help.

@meotzi I would love to try again but I expect we’ll be downsizing in the next couple years so I won’t bother. Maybe our next place.
