And in this weeks copy of Amateur Photographer on page 42 is......ME!!!!!!!
Submitted these images over 7 months ago... I'm delighted to be published in a UK national magazine but that ever perfectionist is going in my head.... (I have better images now than those.....thats not in my humble unbiased opinion of my own work, my favourite work...) But still despite those thoughts I'm grinning like a cheshire cat!!!!!! It hopefully encourages you all. 3 years ago I knew nothing technical and still know very little technically. I have a simple CSC system, no fancy all singing/dancing DSLR, no lights, no flashes, very limited post processing knowledge, just me and a little camera. Go out there and enjoy what you shoot everyone. You never know where it might take you!
Fantastic news! Well done, well deserved, Ruth. I must get a copy! 'You and a little camera' indeed! .... now you know which is the most important factor! I shall mark this with a Fav!
Congratulations!! The camera gets only half, possibly even less, of the credit, the rest is your brilliant eye for composition and subject. Although I have to say I have the slightly earlier DMC LX7 with a Leica lens and its a winner as far as I am concerned! The whole LUMIX series is brilliant.
Big congratulations, your work is wonderful so full of heart and soul, always tells a story! Just goes to show it is not the technology but the photographer that creates an image!
I know someone famous! Wow Ruth you clever girl! What a thrill for you to see these photos in such a popular & prestigious magazine. Just shows that us ordinary folks can contribute to other like minded amateur photographers! The boys must be thrilled too! Well done I will look out for it in the shop!
@happypat sammy is very excited. He wants a copy framed in his room!! He keeps saying "im famous"!! As in meaning him. Knew yesterday from an email something was going to be published... sammy was worried then that they might only chose the ones of benji!
This is terrific - well done and well deserved. It's interesting that you don't have flashy equipment and goes to prove that it is composition and emotion that wins every time. Time for you to celebrate!
Well! Bugger me backwards and call me bow-legged! (My all time favourite quote from@graemestevens). You clever, clever girl. Have rushed out and bought my copy. Can you imagine my delight ..... and jealousy? X Nice one young lady x
Haha @motherjane ! I shall be borrowing your copy if I don't find one tomorrow. Well done! What a fantastic thing to happen but well deserved as your pictures are delightful. Did they interview you at home or did you submit some photos and then they ask for a bit of into about you? Must get a copy; if not I shall bob down to Jane's. ;-)
@callymazoo I saw an advert on their website when having a look whilst recovering from being poorly last June.... as I had time to spare to upload some I though what the heck I'll give it a go and didn't expect anything. Few weeks later had email saying they had got through the first round and could I send higher quality images and fill a form in. Which I did. Didn't hear anything then for 6 months so assumed not been good enough. Then on Monday got an email to say I was in this weeks publication which was bit of a shock!!
Very well done.
