threads of silk

As I walked outside this afternoon to enjoy the warm weather (I heard from a local friend it reached 82!) I saw a zillion silk threads blowing in the wind...they were caught on the power lines (shown in black), the tree branches, the vehicle antennas, etc. Strange, but beautiful.
The warm weather and the light winds had young spiders doing what is called ballooning. They cast a long silk thread into the wind and release their grip to sail away and disperse from where mom left the egg sac. Great light, excellent focus and detail. Fun shot!

That's really cool. I've seen spiders ballooning (and remember it from Charlotte's Web), but I've never seen a sight like this.
