My daughters went to friend's 16th birthday party last night and came home with this tiny puppy. He is so small - I think he's probably about 5 weeks old - certainly way too young to be away from his mother. The friend's boyfriend had got it for her as her birthday present yesterday. So not only had he been taken away from his mum and siblings too young but he was then dumped in a box on the kitchen table with all the noise of the party going on around him and people picking him up and passing him around. He must have been terrified - my daughter said he was shaking and she nearly cried when she saw him. The friend's mum was asking if anyone wanted to take the dog home as they live in a rented house and are not allowed pets. When I collected my daughter from the party she was quite upset. My heart went out to the poor little mite when she told me about him so I told her to go back and get him. She went in but was talked out of bringing him home. But when we got home we rang my other daughter, who was still at the party, and told her to ask if they still wanted to find a home for him, in which case we'd have him. After some to-ing and fro-ing on the phone she finally ended up walking through the door with him in her arms. He is really, really small but has been eating and drinking from a bowl so hopefully he'll be OK. My husband woke up in the middle of the night to find all three of us crowded round this little puppy - I think he thought he was having a nightmare, lol!
Awww... I'm crying just reading your storey. The poor little thing. How irresponsible of the breeders to even allow a puppy to be sold at that age. It looks like s/he had come to a good home and Tilly now has some company.
Ah Nick what a story! So little & no mum, how sad but now he has three mummies so he is a very lucky boy! Who ever sold him hadn't much sense or responsibility nor the silly boyfriend! Never mind your kind hearted daughters came up trumps, you too Nick, well done all of you! Good luck to that little boy.

I can't understand how some people treat animals so badly but unfortunately it happens all too often. I took little pup to the vet today for a check over and he's been given a clean bill of health - along with his first jab which he hated. He's already getting more confident and is trying to play fight with Tilly who, of course, is not allowed to fight back! She's being very gentle with him. He's so cute - he plays for 10 mins and then falls asleep; he has something to eat and then falls asleep; he had his check over and jab and then fell asleep while the vet was talking to us; and he loves cuddling up on us to sleep. No doubt you'll see his progress in my project over the coming months. I wonder what he'll look like and how big he'll get? The vet couldn't shed much light on what breed he is -
just a mixed up mongrel. When he has a name he can have his own tag like Tilly has. :) @yorkshirekiwi I'm sure it won't be long 'til you meet him.
