This is the main highway through New Zealand at morning rush-hour time on the first day of our country-wide lockdown. A shout-out and big thank you to all the essential and emergency workers - like these truck drivers - who are keeping the rest of us safe, fed, watered, powered, connected, etc. I was surprised how many cars were about this morning too, some with multiple occupants.
It does seem to be working! Surprised at the multiple occupants, unless they were family members but then......where were they going? Joining with you for a shout-out for all the people keeping the UK moving too.
@yorkshirekiwi Definitely quieter, although I can hear a motorbike roaring up the road as I type this - sounds louder, I guess, because it's so quiet everywhere! @zeezee Very peaceful so far - long may it last. @peadar I hope everyone sticks to it too so we can knock this virus on its head. @casablanca Where indeed seeing as only one person from a household is supposed to go shopping. I hope they had their reasons and weren't flouting the lockdown rules. @dide Will you be having to do any online teaching Dianne? @sunnygirl Thanks - a sign of the times. @jernst1779 It's quite surreal out there.
