This is a special day for me for two reasons. The first because my Nan died of cancer and Daffodil Day raises awareness of cancer and brings hope to those people currently fighting the disease.
The second reason is because I used to work for the Cancer Council and I organised six Daffodil Day's during my time with the organisation.
Today brings back lots of memories including trying to sell over 35,000 fresh daffodils every year, sorting merchandise to send to volunteers to sell, and organising Daffodil Day stalls at over 40 shopping centres each year and recruiting over 250 volunteers to staff these stalls.
During my time as Fundraising and Business Development Manager for the Cancer Council I raised over $3 million by organising and coordinating events such as Daffodil Day.
@stuckinoz - thank you Janelle, I did love that job. @jdr4690 - thanks Rob, I met my husband whilst I was working there so yes it does have lots of memories close to my heart.
That is awesome to have made such a significant contribution to an organization like that. I don't know anyone who has not been touched by cancer in some way, shape or form. Nice shot.
