Waiting for Monsieur Bellivier

I am an avid reader. I love the feel and smell of a brand new book. As soon as I have finished one book I must immediately start another. I have at least 20 books waiting on my shelf to read. They keep being bumped along the line because I am constantly buying new books.

Last night I finished reading a delightful book called 'Waiting for Monsieur Bellivier' by Britta Rostlund. If you are looking for a light, entertaining book with an intriguing plot I highly recommend this book. Here is a synopsis of the story:

Helena Folasadu should of course say no. She doesn't know the man talking to her, she doesn't know Monsieur Bellivier, and she certainly isn't waiting for him. But, bored of life, and sparked by a whim, she says yes.

Mancebo, a Tunisian shopkeeper, lives a quiet and ordered life, manning his grocery on a street leading to the Sacre-Coeur. But one day he is approached by a woman asking whether he will spy on her husband, who lives in the apartment across the street. To his surprise, Mancebo agrees.

Helena and Mancebo don't know it yet - they haven't met - but their missions will overlap in the most surprising ways. And, as they do, we will realise the the City of Light harbours secrets in its cafes and courtyards - more secrets than its inhabitants and visitors could possibly suspect...

The story was originally written in French and has been translated.

I am going to spend the afternoon reading The Other Wife by Michael Robotham. For some reason this year I have been quite attracted to murder/mystery/thriller books. If you like this genre I recommend any of the three books that Clare McIntosh has written. They are all exceptionally good.
I have a pile of books waiting to be read and they keep getting bumped back because a new book comes along and takes precedence too.

This does sound good. I love biographies, historical mysteries and military spy novels.

I've become more the non-fiction type and have several books awaiting my attention. I just seem to spend more time writing and photographing things than reading! Hmmmm....I wonder why!
