Today we went to test the new zoo that we have a subscription for. The old zoo was located in the city centre and became to small. So the direction decided is was time to build a new zoo, further away from the centre. In 2-3 years time it was build. It is a zoo with attractions and is called Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen. The offical opening is on the 25th of this month. But before that the subscription holders can take a look and test out the zoo. That is what we did today.
It was an amazing day that didn't start out so well. We were only a few hundred meters from our house when coffee got poored over my camera lens. It was a real shock and we turned around and I disconected my lens. There was coffee in between the parts that slide out for zooming (it's an allround 18-250 lens). So I don't know if it is still working. I decided not to take the change and just bring my old kit lenses. The lens is a tin with rice, hopefully it will suck all the fluid out and I can use the lens again, but don't know if that works with coffee though :S We will see.
The day at the zoo was amazing and I'm glad I took my kit lenses. The new enclosures are so much bigger and more like a natural habitat. Some animals can even walk in between the people, so you can get really close. That is so cool! One of the animals that walk amongst you are these ring-tailed lemurs. We were lucky enough to even see one with a baby walk by us. And then they both looked at me and I got this fabulous shot! I'm so happy with this :)
A truly wonderful shot! I've never heard of a zoo like you've described. Ours lets peacocks roam, though I've heard they have bitten children at some zoos, so that might not last. As for your lens, I'm truly so very sorry, and I hope it can be fixed.
I soooooooo hope your lens will be ok!! Lenses cost so much and when you use one a lot you so hate for something to happen to it!! Still, you got an amazing capture of these Lemurs and love the expressions on their faces!! FAV!
This is a fantastic shot of them! Fav. I do hope your lens will be ok! Rice is the recommended thing to do here. Leave it in there for at least 4 days and don't try to switch it on. It happened to me with water before and it was fine. I am keeping my fingers crossed!
@snaggy
I hope your lens is ok, hopefully the rice trick will work. Can you claim it on insurance if not?
