Karenann, yes I use a tripot when I make a macro shot, because the focus is always very small and the exposure time quite long. I shot with f16 and 1/15 sec.
Rachel, I have a macro lens (90mm) from Tamron. I love it. With a marco lens you can take a picture from very near and catch a lot of details.
