The lone cyclist... by northy

The lone cyclist...

This is Bloor street in downtown Toronto... Monday evening... 6pm... where on earth are all the cars????

Feeling a tad uninspired today... counting on tomorrow to be better :)

Thank you for the wonderful comments and favs on my last two letter shots...
Love the composition here, shadows and light and fab processing - dont know why you consider this uninspired???

Awesome timing with nothing else on the road competing for attention. Love the bikers placement (your composition). Well shot, lady!

Great B&W, the cyclist must have loved the lack of traffic.
August 28th, 2012
Wonderful perspective. I love the b&w

Nice, this reminds me of L Armstrong and the whole mess...maybe the only way he gets to enjoy a ride is alone like this guy!
August 28th, 2012
This is a wonderful shot and I love the solitude with the simplicity.

This is a great street shot. People would kill to get a main street that is empty except for a lone anything.

You have captured the deserted and lonely feel very well here, and the b & w sympathises with this.

It is a great composition and the light bouncing off the pavement and the cyclist is perfect. You may feel uninspired, but it is still a great photo and good for you for actually getting out everyday to stay true to your project.

@newbie Well - not all my shots are taken the day of... Yesterday was just a sucky day... It was Monday... I had a weather-induced headache... And I had to spend a good portion of the day at training (so no time for lunchtime photography)... A trifecta of suckiness... Hopefully today will go better :)

I like the comp... especially that there is bikes on the right side, parked, an empty street, and the bike on the left in motion.
August 28th, 2012
Cool with the cyclist alone in the bright emptiness.
August 28th, 2012
Brilliantly composed and captured!!! Love lighting and B/W :)

Love the balance with bikes on both sides. Nice shadow too.

If this is what you do when you lack inspiration then please lack it more often! It's marvellous.... the light on the empty road, the road as a line to lead the eye through the picture, the lone cyclist moving in the opposite direction towards the viewer, the parked bikes across the road and cars in the far distance as if they are banned ........ Look at it afresh Northy, it's just fabulous!! Fav!

I bet this biker was enjoying no traffic. I like the processing too. My 30 year old son travels everywhere on his bike. He never wants to own a car
