You belong to the city...

Pushing my camera to the limit at ISO 6400... yeah, i know it's a mess... but the sun goes down early these days and how on earth am i going to shoot street if i can't do it at night?

so i am curious as to what the protocol for this type of shooting is...

view large to get a full sense of this image's craptastic glory ;p

Incidentally, i've noticed a number of 365-ers end their year with a slide show set to music which got me wondering what music i would choose... and sad to say, the first song that came to my mind, and that i cannot eject, is the old Miami Vice song...

edited to tag for the Street Photography Now challenge... this week it's: "Find an ambiguity that lies just below the surface" originally set by Jesse Marlow

Was it raining? I think that the grain in this shot really adds a sense or eeriness when combined with BW... you have a great eye for that. Lol @ Miami Vice! That made me laugh. I did a slide show (not all my shots cos that was just going to take way too long cos I wasn't prepared as I wasn't originally going to do it that way)... the song came about after hubby suggested perhaps one of Pete Murray's songs. He knows Pete and I go way back ;) lol

@ozziehoffy no rain... but the air was heavy - a bit misty but not hugely so.... yeah... yours was the most recent slide show that had me thinking.... and then WHAM... miami vice.... bwa haaaa haaaaaaaaa!!!!

This shot is pretty cool. Love your idea for the Miami Vice song. How funny!

i think it is a very edgy street shot, which I think is a good thing with street photos.

TC
I see someone asked if it was raining. I was going to say, "Blame it on the rain"! Neat shot!!
I like the song choice for your work; well suited :)

@northy I think it works very well for how you've processed this shot :) ahhhh lol... like I said, I wasn't going to do one, but then when I tried collage, it just took away from the shots ... they felt flat, so I wanted to showcase them better. So love your Miami Vice idea ;)

Oh that all sounds like a lot of work. I like the movement in the trees.
Now I'm off to listen to Miami vice, that was a long time ago.

Nice work

The sax brings a bit of moodiness to it so it would go with lots of different types of photos!
November 20th, 2012
Love your song idea....it would definitely work for you!
November 20th, 2012
LMAO! Love the Miami Vice idea :)

Not Miami Vice, but Horatio in Miami CSI who will no longer be with us soon. Sob. Looks like a bit of uICM @ozziehoffy

I'm a sucker for grainy shots in b&w so this is right up my street! Not so sure about Miami Vice though hihihihihihi!

I like this. Has a 50s movies quality to it
November 20th, 2012
It has a certain snowy quality ;o) Count yourself lucky you can get these type of shots, my camera only goes to 800 ISO so I could never, ever achieve this! xx

@peterdegraaff Horatio no longer with us soon? Why? What have I missed?
November 20th, 2012
@ozziehoffy I saw advertised last episode ever
November 20th, 2012
@peterdegraaff Ooooh... I haven't really watched that series too much... but I really don't like it when they stop shows I love :(
November 20th, 2012
@ozziehoffy Melody hates it because David Caruso is so wooden, which is exactly why my daughter and I love Horatio. Sorry @northy for taking over your page
November 20th, 2012
Has a real edgy feel to it.
November 20th, 2012
@peterdegraaff lol he is!! His head is in a permanent tilt to the side!! Tell Melody I agree lol. I find him hard to watch cos I keep noticing that about him.
November 20th, 2012
I agree with Humphrey re the edginess.
November 20th, 2012
I am not sure I like the noise in the shot as others do. What has been your experience with Noise Reduction in your editor in such large areas? If you want the noise out, I think it your only option if you have motion in the shot. The figure walking...
November 20th, 2012
Yeah push that ISO.
November 20th, 2012
I just had to click on your link, didn't I? Now I know what you mean by "song cooties". Neat shot.
November 20th, 2012
I love it- it's quite noirish and unclear.
