Lunch at Union Station by northy

Lunch at Union Station

This is a a very tiny portion of a much larger image taken for the one night stand challenge - today's theme being architecture... I think the larger shot works quite well - but i just kinda liked this bit better on its own :)

I ended up posting the bigger version in my other album - in case you're interested: http://365project.org/northy/just-because/2013-01-10

Info on one night stand challenge is here:

Thank you for looking and commenting on my recent shots.
It works for theme leading lines, too, I think. I like it a lot. The composition and the processing are great.

January 11th, 2013

Great shot. Love this gritty look.
January 11th, 2013
Great pov
January 11th, 2013
Fav... Fabulous composition here...
January 11th, 2013
Love the tones, light and all the angles.
January 11th, 2013
you shoulda told me you were coming 'round my turf. could've treated you to a box of cinnabon! :-) i like the processing in this. it's so gallery-worthy!
January 11th, 2013
Fascinating color palette. Love the placement of the person.
January 11th, 2013
Just awesome. Love all that is going on here, Northy. A fav!
January 11th, 2013
Love everything about this...fav!!! Really cool processing.
January 11th, 2013
Love it!
January 11th, 2013
Has the grandeur of something Roman or ancient. Love the textures too!
January 11th, 2013
I like this! The man gives such scale to the corridor. Did you post the larger view?
January 11th, 2013
@cmc1200 tx Caryn... so far, no i haven't... felt like too much of the same thing? the other one is far grander - with less focus on the two gents...
January 11th, 2013
You rock! It's awesome.
January 11th, 2013
TC
Nice contrasty monotone...love the gritty feel to this one!
January 11th, 2013
I don't know which I love more! Brilliant and a Fav!
January 11th, 2013
Wonderful pov! Very eye-catching!
January 11th, 2013
I really like this, texture is great
January 11th, 2013
Love this one, although I like the other one as well. I like this one more because you get more of the gritty detail from the pillars and less of the blown out areas on the left that are in the other one. But like I sai,d they are both great. Amazing light. fav
January 11th, 2013
I love the larger shot too! Great to see the details tho!
January 11th, 2013
Lyn
"yeah, so it's grainy" - listen: the graininess is PERFECT!!
January 11th, 2013
fav. Fantastic.
January 11th, 2013
Wonderful!!!
January 11th, 2013
Love the composition and processing northy - Fav!
January 11th, 2013
Very nice. I love the gritty feel of your processing.
January 11th, 2013
Really like this. Great in b&w, super composition and the guy just makes it. I'll add my fav
January 11th, 2013
I'm enjoying looking at both takes. So different, and obviously similar. I like them both for different reasons - super cool!
January 11th, 2013
It's a tough choice as they are both really cool, this one is darker which I like & I like being able to see the dudes in it!
January 11th, 2013
They both work equally well as images in their own right but I slightly prefer this one. The composition, framing and all that blah, blah, blah is spot on on but I'm seeing a story unfold here, in my head there is a deal about to go down here. Its another fav for me
January 11th, 2013
both shots are cool, but I like the grand version more because it really emphasises the contrasting sizes of the tiny dudes vs. the huge building.
January 11th, 2013
i just love your streetshots! :)
January 11th, 2013
i really like both shots, but i think i prefer this one, because of the people in it!
January 11th, 2013
Love this shot Northy! Fav
January 11th, 2013
So amazing!
January 11th, 2013
Love the grittiness of this one.
January 11th, 2013
Oooh this crop is great too...I like them both, I almost prefer the deeper contrast in this one.
January 11th, 2013
I like "big" coherent images. So while this crop is wonderful, I prefer the big one by far.

Now "big" messy stuff, trying to cram everything but the kitchen sink into a shot" I do not admire very much.
January 11th, 2013
This is a wonderful picture! Love the architecture of Union Station
January 11th, 2013
What a great shot. You really have an eye for detail. This is a fav for me.
January 11th, 2013
Fav. Is this silver efex you are using to get the yellow tones?
January 11th, 2013
Both of these are great! Union Station is prime shooting area. I'm picking up my smaller camera tomorrow - can't wait to hit downtown! :)
January 11th, 2013
Lovely.. Great lines and textures.
January 11th, 2013
Amazing shot. I love all those leading lines but I prefer the feeling of scale in the uncropped version xx
January 11th, 2013
@carolinedreams tx Caroline... yes - tones added in silver efex... i find they seem to give depth and dimension to these sorts of shots...
January 12th, 2013
brilliant composition and tones here....a fav! classic street shot
January 12th, 2013
another fav!
January 12th, 2013
@northy They really do.
January 12th, 2013
Amazing shot my dear! :) You should put together a book of all your downtown/city photography and sell it! You're shots are outstanding! :)

January 12th, 2013
Apart from all the other perceptive comments, I think timing to get the pedestrian was spot on for me.
January 13th, 2013
On the pp now
January 13th, 2013
Awesome grit, great shot Northy!
January 13th, 2013

I'm following you because of this photo! I travel to Toronto quite often for business, and this view is VERY familiar to me. Great photo - actually nice to see without all the construction going on :D
