soooooooo.... first off the word... i struggled with it... i am not wholly on board with the concept of objective truth - beauty being in the eye of the beholder, and all...
then the image... oddly, it looked much better when the white mask was the reflection, and of course, that is so much more likely a scenario that we see ourselves as plainer than we are... i struggled with the angle, the pose, the processing... ugh! and altho' the end result is close to what i wanted, it isn't exactly right... i'm not sure it's obvious enough that it's a reflection (altho' my 13 year old son got it without having seen my set up, so maybe it's a bit closer than i'm thinking)...
whatevs... i'm tired and hungry and want to spend SOME time looking at other people's pictures tonight :)
also tagging this for the eye of the beholder challenge (because isn't that what this is about?)
Ok..I'm totally freaked out...lol! I got this immediately as when I mentioned the mad minute word and trying to think of something so I might have something to participate, my 15yr old suggested something very similar to this! I have run out of time to pull it together but love that you did it!
Love the angle and perspective!! Well done!
This intrigued me straight up... I got that it was a reflection before reading through... I got what it was about. I thought the same as Maggie.. the only thing that I would change would be the reflection with lipstick also. That said, I think that this is great.. love it. Fav.
Oooh I'm in love with this photo. The concept, the set up, the processing - GAH. Love. Makes me want to learn how to insert one of those little heart symbols.
Oh, and I love that you're brought up the whole "what is beauty" can of worms. Because it is such an ambiguous creature, maybe it does render this word meaningless, but wait... I thought it was in the eye of the beholder...?
Love the angle and perspective!! Well done!
Fascinating thinking behind this shot.
