unplugged

yes... the chair again... altho' this may be the last appearance for a while as one of the legs broke (it was a near thing - a couple items teetered on the edge of a table - i had a choice of whether to save the fabu 17-55 f/2.8 or the chair... the chair lost)...

thank you for the wonderful feedback on my architecture shot from yesterday...
I love the subtle distortion here -- it has a surrealistic look.

@catwoman2 tx! i feel like I've been chasing the surreal all week... it will be nice if i have finally succeeded ;p
November 15th, 2013
It does feel surreal. The lighting and stretched out lamp, chair, etc. all contribute. And I think saving the lens made sense!
November 15th, 2013
Pretty slick production here. Your use of the wood flooring is very cool.
November 15th, 2013
Best one yet!
November 15th, 2013
I reckon you've hit the nail on the head, Northy! :-)

You didn't move the poor man's favourite seat did you? You know a man is disturbed to the core of their being if they don't know which seat they are allowed to sit in. Sort of like seating us somewhere else at the dinner table during a dinner party. How are we supposed to eat if the food bowl has been moved? ;-)
November 15th, 2013
nice one!
November 15th, 2013
@quixoticneophyte tx Alexander... and no, i did not move his "chair" (actually, i did move his "couch", but he wasn't in need of it at the time as he was much too busy watching a football game ;p)... however i took all but one plant off the window sill and moved everything away from two walls (i swear that wide-angle lens can see around corners ;p)
November 15th, 2013
aww! so sorry for the chair's leg. but the leg you can put a duct tape on for a temporary cure. the lens, no dice. so you did good. and we all love the resulting pic, broken chair leg and all.

@summerfield sticky tack held it together for this shot, but it's still rather tottery... need me some model glue :)
November 15th, 2013
Very cool shot!
November 15th, 2013
My favorite so far, too! The placement of the plug is perfect!
November 15th, 2013
Fabulous perspective, great dof. You definitely made the right decision allowing the chair to take the fall!
November 15th, 2013
thats so cool!
November 15th, 2013
nicely done… great atmosphere
November 15th, 2013
Amazing shot, love the Dof.
November 15th, 2013
Such a cool idea to use the cord like that for depth! Now I feel the surrealism- it's quite difficult to tell the sizes of all the stuff in the picture. Super processing too. Faved
November 15th, 2013
Oh Yeah... the plug is such a great idea! I LOVE this one!
November 15th, 2013
You are so good at these :) Brilliant shot :) x
November 15th, 2013
Has someone got electrocuted here? I'm a bit worried by the chair and the light in the background!
November 15th, 2013
Bingo! this i fave :)
November 15th, 2013
Very creative. Great play on scale
November 15th, 2013
Great idea and execution! Works well in B&W.
November 15th, 2013
electric chair? very effective, I think I need to find some dolls furniture....
November 15th, 2013
Nice use of depth in this. Cool image.

Wonderful POV - DOF plus monochrome - fav
November 15th, 2013
Fab composition. Love the lighting.
I think you made the right call on what to save. ;)
November 15th, 2013
Great b&w
November 15th, 2013
This is very clever - the best by far of your chair series.
November 15th, 2013
I love this! Wonderfully done! Fav
November 15th, 2013
You've cracked it - this is fantastic - big FAV - and so creative. It's such a beautiful miniature dolls house chair - hope you can fix it. I hope there are more photos in the series.
November 15th, 2013
Wo, this is fantastic! Amazing POV and b&w processing!
November 15th, 2013
Great surreal scene and good catch by you ...
November 15th, 2013
Oh yum, miniatures - this is so cool. Huge fav for this
November 15th, 2013
Think you've got there. It's is quite bizarre that the plug, which looks like it is the one for the lamp, is a) not plugged in and the light is on and b) is far too big in proportion. Wonderful. Fav.
November 15th, 2013
Love the perspective.
November 15th, 2013
yes, this does have a surreal feeling to it. nice distortion around the edges, and the wood grain in the floor pulls the eye forward toward the plug. very cool shot!
November 15th, 2013
I can't bear to see this with 13 fav's ;o) I'll add another. It's an awesome shot xx
November 15th, 2013
@psychographer awww... tx Lisa... much appreciated... i realize my weirdness isn't for everyone tho ;p
November 15th, 2013
@northy Not weird, just creative and executed so well. I feel in a slump currently so it's good to see other people who are constantly inspirational xx
November 15th, 2013
Totally surreal and creative!i am inspired by your black and white images as nature moves into the dull greys of November.
November 15th, 2013
Dali would be very happy. fav
November 16th, 2013
Love it!! you are really good at these. Bummer about the chair but phew about the lens!!
November 16th, 2013
come back to see this again, you're giving me inspiration to make derelict miniature houses
November 16th, 2013
@ingrid2101 ooooooh! now THAT would be cool... can't wait to see what you come up with!
November 16th, 2013

November 16th, 2013

November 16th, 2013
Sue
Awesome!
November 17th, 2013
i was thinking that this chair looked like a toy's furniture, then I saw it was on your other shot, like it !
November 17th, 2013
I´m very intrigued by this! It looks like miniature furnitures but I suspect it´s just the perspective....feels a bit surreal but I like it!
November 18th, 2013
Love the lighting and comp here! So very well done! :)
November 18th, 2013
