another from yesterday's quick walk around Toronto city hall... for my get pushed challenge of street photography set by April (@aecasey)...
i know this isn't quite what is intended by street photography, but it was early morning (exif time is wrong - forget to set back the time in my camera), cold, and people were't really hanging about much... AND i'm very definitely out of practice ;p
It may not be what you intended but it's a great shot. I love the play of light and dark in this street shot. It's a street where I may not want to walk.
I don't know if there is some sort of approved definition of what constitutes street photography - but for me, the key criteria are that the image be taken in the/a street (duh!) and that it be a candid exposure, i.e. not posed. For me then, this is a street shot... and a good one.
@vignouse Richard... I generally think of street as capturing a "decisive moment"... At least, that was certainly my early vision... Towards the end of my street run it became more about light, shadow and the architectural environment than the human element...
You have such a good eye for composition. I love how the stair railing line meets the sidewalk line..carries the eye straight to the passing walker...or is the other way around...either way...very nice!
It looks like you have tried everything Northy! For get pushed how about creating an unusual water crown. I had a play thia week and it was quite a challenge for me. Let me know if thats no good or you've done it to death.
