nepenthe by northy

nepenthe

i took this when i was out yesterday morning shooting one of the images for my hatter shot and i was reminded of the word "nepenthe" which was a word for the "mad word" challenge we had going a little over a year ago... i was never happy with the shot i posted at the time, so i am posting this now...

plus, it's "a propos"... "nepenthe" is used in Poe's poem "the Raven" :)

hatter shot is here:

Suprised how well the high contrast treatment works in this, whereas my instinct would have been to have gone with soft tones - shows who knows the most about creating B&W images... well done Mira!

An image to banish grief? Not sure it would do that for me. Emphasise loneliness, introspection... aid reflection... things like that. Anyways its lovely!
