well... i couldn't NOT do a subway shot when the weekly theme is transportation... but i am starting to feel like i just keep taking the same picture over and over and over again... y'know... like Groundhog Day ;p
@katrinanz tx Katrina... warp IS a photoshop thing that lets you manipulate images in all sorts of crazy funky ways... that said, i didn't use the warp feature in this shot... i used a photoshop filter called "twirl" :)
I just noticed you have a "new" (to me) camera. Is this "in addition to" or "in place of" your bigger camera? I'm considering a smaller kit, myself, but haven't decided if it will replace or complement what I already have. Part of the reason I don't take as many photographs is the size/weight of my current kit.
Yay for twirl - this is fantastic. Love how you haven't twirled the two people.
Many feel like Groundhog to you but your photos always look new, creative and FAVish to me. FAV
@cmc1200 tx Caryn... "in addition" to :) i needed something i could haul around without killing my back... i can (relatively) easily just toss it in my bag... it's the camera i carry on walkabouts, and when i was in Europe over the summer on an active vacation... i will use my canon for set up shots, and anything specifically planned as a photo excursion...
@whimsicalgrateful tx Marta... but hmmm... interesting question... i guess because black and white reduces the image to it's structural elements... because it brings harmony to an image, and because it lets me control what the viewer looks at...
@northy I see. I am discovering an attraction to B&W too, but for a different reason. I like the stark contrast of the non-colours. Thank you for your answer though, it puts things on a different perspective.
@shepherdmanswife no kidding... there's tons of functionality i have yet to even attempt let along actually figure out how to use! but i do so love distorting things ;p
@northy I've found it and had a go. Must remember to use it sometime! Thanks for letting me know where it is and showing me what you can do with it. I love what you've done in this shot.
Loved the Groundhog Day movie (only one of his I did like!) - and love your subway shots! Don't stop. And especially love the melting effect. Fab processing.
Wow, wow, just wow!! Just when I didn't think you could get any better you throw this twist in (or, twirl, as the case might have it!)......awesome shot and processing! And, thanks for all that information....yes, I do have PS5 and Lightroom, but learning how to use either, and use them effectively is another matter! This is really superbly done! And, please don't stop with your subway shots....we all seem to have an element that resonates with us, and I can see why the underground does to you! I used to live in NYC in the days of the subway graffiti, and if I had been photographing them then they would have been vibrantly colorful!
@cmc1200
Northy used an NEX-7, which is a posher version of my NEX-6. I'm only a newbie, but love the NEX-6 for its small size and portability, plus I can use all my old SLR lenses, and but lots more cheap ones on ebay. Not sure if that helps...
