this is frustrating the heck outta me... i canNOT get the feel i am after and i'm not sure what's missing... nor can i really describe what it is i am looking for to do...

happy for any suggestions, although i expect i haven't really given you anything to go on...

Funny... I had an idea in my head about something like this, but my iPad is dead and no time to play with it. I do like this shot, so darkly lit and linear. Maybe flatter on the POV and spun slightly towards the left side? Cool concept, too.

In my mind's eye, the pawn's wide bottom and narrow top combined with their fixed minimum separation dictated by the board makes a sea of drones or an endless supply of drones look more like a pond of drones in limited supply.

We don't know what you were aiming for but it's a really good shot. Maybe you were after stark contrast and long shadows? But it doesn't matter … the light is so subtle
