for get pushed this week, @tdaug80 challenged me to use my macro + extension tubes for food photography...
this was frustratingly difficult... i don't love food photography to begin with, and i'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that nothing should be looked at this closely!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
@tdaug80 - thanks for the challenge... it was a good one for me... not quite satisfied with this image, but definitely a good learning experience in terms of trying to identify a subject and settings that would yield some passable results
I wonder if you need to find food with either more texture or more contrast to bring out the structures that can be interesting. This is a bit too smooth/flat, I think, for what you are trying to do given your narrative.
@taffy I hear what your saying, but the other things I tried ( the hideous coffee bean which I posted and the inside of a bell pepper which I did not) didn’t work for me…. The only time an Uber macro food shot did work for me was my blueberry from last year…. And even that was a bit dubious https://365project.org/northy/365/2021-02-24
Well, good. I'm glad that you have been sufficiently pushed. Are you using manual focus? Auto focus often struggles with macro photography. A tripod goes without saying, but I'm saying it, anyway.
@tdaug80 yes and yes 🙂... i almost always use manual focus with macro - but there's no choice when using the extension tubes... and technically, wasn't using a tripod, but the camera was stood on the floor and stable...
