The creeping dark... by northy

The creeping dark...

Where does architecture end and design begin? I was debating whether to include the Museum subway station in my main album for architecture week, but in the end I decided not to... I think I may have gone just a smidgeon overboard in editing, but after 6 or 7 edits on the clock tower in my other album, i haven't the energy to rethink this ;p

Today's architecture shot is here:

Thank you for the continued views, comments, favs and follows... I am working on catching up with everyone - please bear with me :)

I think its great! Love the movement and lighting.

I love the motion of the train contrasted with the stillness of the girl's expression!
February 7th, 2013
nice composition for b/w... like the movement blur from the subway
February 7th, 2013
love that moving train with the solid floor and statue. Such a great mood here.
February 7th, 2013
I like this shot - the stillness of the waiting passenger and the motion of the train as well as the hard contrast of B&W. Nice.

That has to be THE coolest subway EVER!

I really like this! You have really mastered this whole street, BW thing. Fav.

You have captured that gritty underground feel beautifully. A lot going on here with elements that complement one another. Not over processed at all to me.

Amazing... I love the face on the right!

EXCELLENT shot!!!
February 7th, 2013
Great focus!

Well, it's definitely architecture. I love the composition with the statue/carving. Did you overly darken the left edge over the rest? The vignetting really draws you in toward the people. Very cool.

wonderful shot - I always love your subway shots, Northy - AND your tags, of course!

King Tut? In the train station?! I knew it ... I really like the mix of stillness and motion. Very cool effect.
February 7th, 2013
@archaeofrog yep... i added quite a bit of dark all over, but a lot more on the left than anywhere else... there were some bright spots there that were distracting and i kinda got carried away trying to de-emphasize them ;p

@still_beachradish yeah... the subway station by the museum has this cool statuary... i have several shots from there :)

You nailed it . Great use of shadow, B&W and love the capture on the woman.
February 7th, 2013
I think the person could've been a bit lost there without your edit. Now the eye goes right to her. Love those statues, and cool too see you paint a bit ;)
February 7th, 2013
This is very good....and you are drawn to the woman and then explore the rest.

I love this. As so many others have mentioned, your capture of the contrast of motion with stillness is awesome. Don't know what the original looked like, but this finished version rocks!
