Sometimes ya just gotta shoot whatcha got!

A hockey arena with decent lighting for once!

This is one of three shots used for the camera settings challenge - exposure bracketing... i kinda liked it in its own right so posting it separately :)

A collage with the three bracketed images and the merged version is here:

Interesting to see the different values and results! This is great light, of course!

You know what's funny about this? To you it's mundane, something you see everyday. But to me it's interesting to study because I seldom step foot in an ice rink. Maybe I should reconsider some of my seemingly dull shots.

Lyn
wonderful shot. . .and I agree with Caryn: not something I get to see on a regular basis!

I was going to say that I loved the texture of the ceiling, but then I realised it's a net in front of the ice. You can tell I don't go into ice rinks very often. ;)

That is an awesome shot - good luck with the challenge

I think the light of this single shot works as well, if not better than, the merged HDR you referenced. However, I like the HDR for the fleeting, ghost-like changing positions of the players in motion.

Brilliant pov

Wow...I am amazed at the lighting at this rink! It's awesome. When our son was speedskating we had such trouble getting good shots! Arenas have changed lots and you did a great job of focusing beyond the netting.

@lynnb this arena is quite unusual... very few rinks can i even make an attempt at shooting at 100 ISO!

This is very good. The receding lines hint at your subway train shots.
