Hurricane Dorian has been here and gone. With a provincial population of just less than 1million people, approximately 80% of the province was in the dark during and after the event. This morning (Sept 10th) there are still 100,000 customers without power. We were lucky as our power was restored within 12 hours. The schools are closed for a 2nd day and the children are back in summer mode.
The best news is there were no casualties reported due to the storm, just numerous trees down and water damage near the shore. We are so very fortunate and have nothing to complain about, as the storm here was nothing compared to the devastation in the Bahamas.
Wondered about you as I saw that the hurricane was headed to Nova Scotia. I had family members visiting the area while Dorian visited as well. Glad everyone came through mostly unscathed.
Thanks to each of you for your concern and kind words. Most schools in the province opened yesterday and the cleanup continues. We still have approx 33,000 customers in the dark (Sept 12) and parks and trails still closed to the public for safety reasons, but slowly everything will be put right and any sign of Dorian will disappear. :)
