Papplewick Castle Mill and Moor Pond

Castle Mill now a private house Moor Pond
Used to power cotton mills, water from the river Leen was transported down the valley through a network of leats. The flow was controlled by a series of sluices and ponds were created to hold water so there was a constant flow of water. When it was built in the 18th century it was regarded as a high point of civil engineering
