Book benches 1

Hoodwinked Arts and Literacy Education Programme
Robin’s Tales – Where stories take flight! Fifty-two schools from across Nottingham will join the excitement of Hoodwinked through the Robin’s Tales arts and literacy education programme, which brings the Robin Hood legend to life and re-imagines the tales for a new audience.
The benches are on display in the two shopping centres, libraries, leisure centres across Nottingham and be returned to the schools. These three are in the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre
1 Where’s William? - William Booth Primary School
Inspired by the people of Nottingham past and present.
The whole school thought about famous Nottingham people from skaters to scientists, footballers to outlaws. The pupils wanted to celebrate Nottingham’s people – including the man our school took its name from, William Booth. This project in turn, inspired our whole school topic for the summer term – entitled simply – Nottingham

2 Is there a Gruffalo on the brook for a Stickman like me? -
Inspired by the imagination and poetry of Julia Donaldson
The whole school researched their favourite books and designed a book bench for homework. This beautiful design by one of our youngest pupils was chosen by teachers. By using the well-known, well-loved characters of Room on the Broom, Stickman and the Gruffalo, this bench is instantly recognisable by all of the pupils, staff and visitors to this school. It represents the joy we get from reading together.

3 For The Love of Reading – Southwold Primary School
Inspired by our love and enthusiasm for reading!
The whole school collected together their favourite books, Pupils talked about why they loved to read them and why they are special to them – whether it was favourite characters, illustrations or plot. The final design is a culmination of why Southwold love to read so much!
