St Mary's Greasley by oldjosh

St Mary's Greasley

Greasley is a "lost village" but the Parish of St Mary's includes Newthorpe and Moorgreen which I walked through to get here and Glitbrook where I started and finished my walk.
The church was built in the mid-15th century, was restored in 1753, 1772 and 1832, Mining subsidence caused the tower to separate from the chancel so in 1896 the church was virtually rebuilt at a cost of £2,000 It is a Grade II listed building.
I took this photo as I walked over the fields to reach the Glit brook which I followed back to Glitbrook
