It's on the chilly side today, so I'm quite content to stay inside with the woodstove. Today's shot came as I was preparing dinner for the crock pot. Yup, I'm in the kitchen terrorizing innocent vegetables again with my knife.
@pulguis Thank you Pulguis- we had them with pork chops, mushrooms, red peppers, tomato and brown rice. Yum!! @dmariewms Thanks Marie. The last one I did in color, but I thought the b/w worked really well with this- that's why it doesn't look like what you expect it to be.
@yomamabinrotten Thanks Wyoming- not chili- although that would have been an excellent meal as well. Pork Chops, mushroooms, onion, tomatoes, and red peppers (with a little fresh parsely thrown in for good measure) slow cooked in the crock pot- yum! @prttblues Thanks Bev- I wanted to do a different take on them- not the usual color- although that probably would have worked too. @steeler lol Howard- almost! Thanks! @digitalrn Thanks Rick!
Just looking at them and my eyes tear.. I love onions. my daughter in law serves them as a side dish cooked and then later heated up in a mushroom or celery soup.
@geertje Thank you Geertje! I think they're truly beautiful when you cut them open and see all the layers. @bruni Thanks Bruni! We can only eat them blended in with other things, and Jeff has to have even less than I, but I've read onions are a good source of vitamin C and so I try to include just a little. I put them in soup too.
@pocketmouse Thank you Teresa! I think they call this frame "museum matte". I felt it was the right one for the picture because it allowed the pattern on the onion to stay the central focus of the picture. Sometimes frames can actually pull the eye out of the shot. @summerfield lol- this time I didn't but there are times when those onions really get to me! Thank you Summerfield!
@potsbypam Thanks Pam- I've photographed this type of onion before in color and it looked great but this time, I felt it would be better to shoot it in b/w for that very reason- the lines. @kloud Thanks Bonnie! You have certainly got me eyeing my food- especially the vegetables more closely!
Thank you all so much for the encouraging comments on this shot- I'm so appreciative of them!
@karenann Thank you Karenann! We're going to enjoy them right now (o:
Onions are yummy on any dish!!!

@pandorasecho Thanks Dixie- I just happened to have the camera handy before the tears came!
@sarasdadandmom Thank you Terry!
