I made one last visit to the Bushkill today to finish my homework assignment which I started back in the Spring. It's not the Winter shot I'd hoped for, but it's quite typical for the winter we've had so far. Although you can't see it as well in this final shot, the Bushkill is rushing through our community quite rapidly today thanks to some rain we had on Wednesday. Usually by this time it is partially covered with ice and there might be a snowflake or two on the trees, but not this year! In fact the temperature at the time I took this photo was somewhere in the 40's! So, now you've had a chance to see the lovely Bushkill through all four seasons; at its highest (Spring) and lowest (Summer), at its most colorful (Fall) and bleakest (Winter). It is definitely a waterway for all seasons. From top left to bottom right: Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter.
This is one great collage to just sit and study while looking at it. Love the four seasons and they're all portrayed well here. Great job on this, Ann. Love each one of them for different reasons. Nice job!
@karenann Thanks Karenann- glad you like it! It was a fun "assignment" to return each season and take another shot. Next year, I'll have to pick a different place and do it again.
@bruni Thanks Bruni- I really wanted one with snow, but who knew the only snow storm so far in 2011 occurred on Halloween! I didn't take it then because it wasn't officially winter. Oh well! @sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry. I don't remember where I got the idea from but after the first shot Carla urged me to get one for each season- thus the title and subsequent pictures. @mrssmith Thank you Mrs. Smith!!! @sanera Thanks Samantha- I bet there's something in your neighborhood that you could do this with- like that pathway in the park you took a few weeks ago. That would work really well! @bkbinthecity Thanks bkb! This would work well with that bridge you just discovered. You should try it!
@sanera It'll be fun to see what subject you choose! @dmariewms Thanks Marie! It works best seasonally for the Bushkill. Especially when your shot includes the house of someone you don't know! @pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! Yes- your redwoods would be a great subject for this!
Yes, I recall the other photos and was expecting a blanket of snow for the winter scene. Guess you'll need to go back there when the next big snow fall comes your way. However, you've created a lovely winter collage just the same....a treasure of photos.
@cimes1 Thanks Carole! I will have to take a shot of it during or after a snowfall- it just won't be a part of 2011's collage. If I do a 4 season collage next year, it will be a different subject. But this pretty little creek (which is technically what its called although its much bigger than what I'd call a creek) is a great photo subject on its own too.
@jmj I just saw your snowy glen a few moments ago- so pretty. I had hoped to get a snowy shot of the Bushkill but the weather has conspired against me so far. Maybe next year (which starts tomorrow!!). Thanks for all your support this year Jennifer. I have truly loved seeing my Scottish roots through your beautiful and informative photos!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki- the Spring is always the highest with lots of rain and snow melting. But this past Spring we had something like 4 days straight rainfall combined with melting snow and as you can see in the first shot- the water was really high! (Just compare the two trees on the left.) Summer of course is the lowest. But in the latest shot the water's moving pretty quickly- once again due to heavy rain. It was fun to do this (am I'm so proud I remembered to do each season!!) and I'll probably do it again. Hmmmm...what to choose as a subject???
@alia_801 Thank you Alia- I'm going to pick another site for 2012. But I'll start at the first snow storm this time! @kloud Thank you Bonnie. I must confess it's not my first choice (I love the ocean and flat farmland), but I do love the wildlife here and it does have it positives- the places I love do tend to get some extreme weather! So I have learned to be satisfied here. One of my favorite things to do is to stop on the bridge that crosses over the Bushkill and just listen to the water. It's a beautiful sound!
