Ajar by olivetreeann

Ajar

Sometimes when something's ajar it sparks your curiosity. You stand on tip toes, peer around the corner, cautiously sneak a peek of what lies beyond. At other times, that drawer left slightly open or that container with its skewed lid begs to be corrected, reconnected as if setting it right will align the planets and bring peace to the world. Sometimes that crack of light across the kitchen floor, spilling from the inner sanctum of chilled food is enough to drive you crazy until the thought of fingernails scraping across a blackboard would be a more pleasant sound than the ever incessant hum of the refrigerator motor.
Didn't curisoity kill the cat? Nice one!

@httpgeffed lol Colleen! Thanks!

nice one! really like the POV and the B&W
April 14th, 2012
I would feel like someone was hiding behind it, occupational hazard.
April 14th, 2012
i've done this thing two times, and as a result emptied out the fridge. now, i wake up in the middle of the night when i hear the fridge motor and get up to check and make sure the door is closed. aaargh! good one, ann. and i love the processing!

Nice!

I love this .... just fantastic! Your writing is awesome in this comment. You immediately brought up the same exact thoughts that I get when the fridge runs "forever!" And that crack in the door is very inviting .. no matter what the door leads to. Got me going on this one, Ann.
April 14th, 2012
Well done Ann, you have captured this word so well. I really hate it when my husband leaves the drawers ajar, which he does all the time!
April 14th, 2012
great intrigue lies beyond that door-- love the b&w!
April 15th, 2012
Sparks ones intrest in what lays beyond. Excellent black and white.
April 15th, 2012
There is something about this that reminds me of an Escher pencil sketch of impossible landscapes
April 15th, 2012
Nice processing, and great POV.
April 15th, 2012
nice perspective
April 15th, 2012
@woot Thank you Davide! I played around with a couple angles, layouts and b/w vs. color and decided I liked this one the best because of the pov.
@sarasdadandmom That would be a chilly hide out! Thanks Terry!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! Thankfully this was set up and not left open. But I did come home 2 weeks ago one day and find the refrigerator door opened like this and the faucet on the kitchen sink dripping away. Very little processing on this one. Just added the "gritty" effect to bring out the contrast a bit more.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@kimmistephens Thanks Kimmi!
@karenann Thanks Karenann. I must confess, I was not feeling great today so it sounds a little crabby to me!
@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! I was not my chipper self- well, I was cranky! Joints giving me some troubles and 3 nights of lousy sleep! So I look at what I wrote now and think, "Oh, words from a bad mood!!" lol
@rhubbard Thanks Rich!
@pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! Oh my- I'm not sure I'd put my refrigerator on the same par with Escher!!
April 15th, 2012
@tklein Thanks Tina!!

@beachradish Thank you Beachradish!
@bkbinthecity Thank you Brian!

Kind of a Hitchcock mysterious look at first. I hate open cabinet, pantry, and laundry closet doors...they call out "close me or be miserable all night!"
April 15th, 2012
I am always leaving my refrigerator door ajar. I think I left like that all night. It doesn't always close properly. And the hum drives me crazy. Someday I'd like to buy a new one....Great picture today!
April 15th, 2012
Love this Ann, great processing. This is very mysterious makes you want to see more!!!
April 15th, 2012
@espyetta lol My husband always leaves things just an 1/8 of inch shy of being completely closed. I go around and close everything after him!!
@mrssmith I know Carla- it just keeps going on and on and on and on and...
@tanja_1211 thanks Tanja! Well, I wouldn't be embarrassed to open it right now because it's clean!!
April 15th, 2012
@olivetreeann You could come clean mine next if you like =D
April 15th, 2012
What a creative idea and it works so well in b/w.
April 15th, 2012
Bev
Just don't leave it ajar for too long... stuff might get warm! Great idea...very inventive.
April 15th, 2012
Oh I have expereicned this too, and it drives you crazy
April 15th, 2012
Super shot - the b&w is perfect. My fridge has an alarm that blings when you leave it open.. very sensible I'm sure but irritating as anything when unpacking the shopping...!
April 15th, 2012
Very creative, Ann. I'm not a curious person, so I wouldn't normally have given it a second thought. Just pushed the door shut.
April 15th, 2012
Great recount and photo. Thinking about what might be tempting in there
April 15th, 2012

@inertie Thank you Inertia!
@alia_801 Thank you Alia!

Thanks to all! No food was harmed during this shot and the door was definitely closed properly afterwards as I am the meticulous one when it comes to things ajar in the household. (o:
April 15th, 2012
Ann only you could make a fridge door into art and yes I too was studying your fridge contents before I read your comments lol
April 15th, 2012
Creative!!
April 16th, 2012
@melorac Oh Carole- you had me chuckling on that one! You can barely see what's in the door there!
@twinsplusone Thank you Sharon!
April 16th, 2012
When is a door not a door? When it's ajar! Very creative perspective and well captured!
April 16th, 2012
Awesome, creative perspective on the refrigerator door!
April 16th, 2012
@coastandcactus Groooooan! lol Cissy- thanks for stopping by!
@deniseinindy Thanks Denise! That was the picture I had in mind when I first saw this word.
April 16th, 2012
Great idea, great words to go with it. NIce one.
April 17th, 2012
@netkonnexion Thanks Netkonnexion! Sometimes these words just pop out as I'm typing. I read them later and think "Oh my! That was a little strong, wasn't it?"
April 17th, 2012
I like this image aswell.
April 17th, 2012
@la_photographic Thank you Laura!
April 18th, 2012
Very artzy! Nice job. I can't really tell what I am looking at, but it is definitely interesting.
April 23rd, 2012
@sharritta Thanks Sharon! It's the inside of my refrigerator door- and thankfully clean.
April 23rd, 2012
@olivetreeann Nice! I have to say that a few times I've taken shots around the house and did some extra cleaning to get it photo ready!
April 23rd, 2012
Gosh, not you too... it's not a jar, it's a door. My husband's truck thinks the doors are jars too!!! :-P Great photo!
