November List- reflection

I have so many pictures on the camera card for my Canon that my computer is getting stuck uploading them! So I've deleted a few of the less-worthy keepers and switched over to the Nikon that my friend gave me last year. I had stopped using it because the camera lens was constantly going in and out of focus before I took the shot. As I was reading through the manual to reacquaint myself with the way this camera works I learned that in certain settings it's supposed to do that. Honestly, I find it annoying! Anyway, just to be on the safe side until my new camera card comes, I'll be attempting to work with the Nikon. Today's shot is a failure- perhaps not an epic fail, but it misses the mark for me. I'm sure there is a better way to take this shot and that the camera is capable of capturing the reflection I saw in the window, but I'm just not patient enough to read through the manual to find out! Sometimes, I am my own worst enemy!
Cool

Not sure what you were going for, but I do like the effect! It's very abstract, but that soft glowing light is lovely.

nicely done

I have had that focus frustration with my Nikon, and I can't see where that would ever be desirable. Usually it does a great job but every now and then...

Cool shot.

It's funny how comfortable we become with our own equipment. I have contemplated going to a Nikon next but I keep hearing bits and pieces that make me a bit leary. I realize they are both good cameras, but when you are used to one kind that has serviced you well, you get a bit nervous to make a change.

Thanks for sharing your review on both cameras. Love the abstract shot.

Interesting abstract effects and lighting.

Love the sparkle! I used my old canon ixus this week for some macro.. and couldn't quite remember where the on switch was! I only had the new one at the end of August....!

this is so pretty - in the small view in looks like lots of lit candle tapers

Pretty reflections.

well, you have created an abstract, and i know you love abstracts. are they like those fibre optic kind of thingies?

what's a camera card? is it like an SD card? i ask too many questions.

I like this! It's not a failure. It's quite lovely!

Cool bokeh! It has an abstract, mysterious air to it too :)
(PS For some reason I missed seeing your latest shots... just going to go and check them out now!)

@lyno thanks Lyn- I was going for something that was at least in focus!!
@bkbinthecity thanks Brian!
@allie912 I am sooooooo glad my new camera card arrived!!! I don't want to complain about a very gracious gift- but that focusing bit is driving me crazy!
@sangwann thanks Dione!
@digitalrn I was very blessed to have this camera given to me, but if I'd bought it, I'd be taking it back! It's very annoying, but if the camera is set correctly, it does take the shot in focus- even while the lens is still going in and out. I'm so happy my camera card has arrived!
@chrismarfil thank you Chris. There are many folks on here that love their Nikons- and I suppose the more expensive they are, the better they are. But I truly like the Canon better. It definitely takes better macros in my opinion. And surprisingly it has more options for picture types (color, black and white, sepia and so on)
@cimes1 thank you Carole!
@filsie65 thank you Phil! lol My Canon is not that complicated!
@eniaral thanks Laraine! the tapers are the rungs on my back deck!
@daisy thanks Kathryn!
@summerfield thanks Vikki- perhaps not the best abstract I've ever done, but it is what it is! no fiber optics here- just tiny white Christmas lights on the railing of my back deck. Actually I think it's called a multi media card- it slides in the camera and you can take it out and upload directly in the tower of your computer with it. I think it is similar to an SD card, but I've never used one of those (I think!). no, you don't.
@netkonnexion thank you Damon- you are very tactful!
@prttblues thanks Bev- you are being very gracious!
@alia_801 thank you Alia- you also are being very kind! lol Oh, please don't feel bad about the pictures- I have once again fallen about a week behind. But all my major projects are done now- so I only have my Christmas letter (very short this year!) and some odds and ends shopping to do! I'll be back on 365 now- and I'm sooo looking forward to it!!

My camera does that too and I think it is because it is trying to focus and the settings are not quite right. I have to change the speed or the aperture or less zoom!

@maggiemae Thanks for the comment Maggie. Apparently this camera is supposed to do that on certain settings. I find it really annoying and am so glad I'm back using my Canon again!
