Still switching some of the Me-March assignments around. Technically I don't have a job. But I do a lot of work for my church. Every so often I am asked to fill in the pulpit when our pastor is out of town. It's an exciting and awesome responsibility. Today I spoke on Psalm 23 and how it relates to the life of a shepherd and then how that relates to us.
So it seemed like a good idea to bring this daily assignment to today instead of waiting until Friday. This is our sanctuary from the vantage point of the pulpit. I love how the light pours in from the windows in the balcony. It is very symbolic to mean. As a preacher I'm supposed to be enlightening the congregation. But I also need to be enlightened- especially by God's light.
Nice shot. Love the angle and the sun coming in through the window in the balcony. It almost looks like the inside of the church where my dad sings! I like the shade of the wooden pews. Well done, Ann! :)
@paulavdmerwe Thank you Paula and thank you so much for the fav!
@rayg86 Hi Ray!! I've been thinking about you and wondering how you've been doing! Good to see you back. Oh no, now you are going to tempt me with all those food pictures again! lol
Beautiful scene - the light shining through is inspiration indeed. I'm reading a few psalms every night instead of giving something up for Lent... Psalm 23 is still my favourite but it's amazing how many of the phrases are familiar :)
@cimes1 Thank you Carole. I hold an Master of Divinity from Alliance Theological Seminary. I had hoped to pursue a career on the college level, but ended up teaching Bible in a private school for 2 years. When they ran out of money to pay me they didn't renew my contract and I have been unemployed since. If my preaching professor knew I was serving in my church he'd probably laugh uncontrollably because I insisted in all my classes with him that I "did NOT want to be a preacher"! God has a wonderful sense of humor. @filsie65 Thank you Phil! I always thought it was a beautiful psalm, but it became quite special to me after my second trip to Israel and learning so much from the professor who took us there about shepherding in Bible times. Now it's a joy and privilege to share what I learned with others. @mrssmith Thank you Carla! I would be happy to send you the printed version via email if you'd like it. It even has pictures! My email is Olivetreeann@yahoo.com . Unfortunately they don't record the message at our church yet. Actually I think that's a good thing as I don't like the way my voice sounds on tape! lol
What a lovely church and photo.Love the perspective and beautiful sunlight coming trough the window. What an honor it must be to speak in front of everyone, I would have loved to listen to you!
@tanja_1211 Thank you Tanja! It is a beautiful church. After many years in churches which were very austere or met in a school gymnasium, I am loving the stained glass windows and lovely wood. Yes, it is an honor and an awesome responsibility. But I am happy to serve that way.
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! It struck me as I was waiting for the service to start how brightly the sun came through there. I allowed it to be over exposed in that spot, but in reality you can see the beautiful stained glass window quite nicely with the sun behind it.

Thank you Rick! Can't argue with that!

Thank you Vickie, Lisa, Nicole, Colleen, Brian, Alia, Jennifer, Laura, Dione, Bev, and Ana! Yes, it's a great honor to speak here and the sanctuary is lovely. What you can't see in the solar flare here is the beautiful stained glass window above which is a picture of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. It was a great reminder as I spoke!
