Photography Book Club 14

To be honest, I wasn't really thinking of an emotion (expression) or creatively (imagination) when I shot this. I was thinking it had been a while since I shot in sepia and started taking shots of the flowers on my deck which always look so different when you take their picture in sepia. But then I caught sight of this plaster pedestal that usually has a plant on it and decided the texture and weathering were really interesting. I added some film grain to the picture for an extra kick of texture and a vignette to give it that feeling of antiquity- which I guess could be the "emotion" I was going for after all.
Great textures

It has the look of being abandoned to the weather, still like to see the real urn!

This caught my eye immediately, looked like big feet at first, very creative

Indeed the feeling of antiquity, nice tones to help bring out and highlight that feeling

This one sure caught my eye! It looks like a super duper cake slathered with whipped cream.

Nice shot, Ann... you definitely captured the texture perfectly. Love the sepia and the processing to give it more "oomph". Well done :)

definite antiquity. nice curves and sepia. the book club sounds like loads of fun mixed with interesting challenge.

Great shot. This does look good in sepia. I think your shot has a degree of intrigue. I think about what this is: an urn, a building column, a plant stand, etc. Thank you for all of your comments on my book club shots. I have been too busy to reply, but I do read your comments.

Thank you Kerri, Taffy, Timothy, Alia, Maggie, Cindy, Rick, Dione, Howard, Katie, Carole, Bev, Jerri and Kathryn!

@maggiemae It's a pillar- like a column on a Greek temple- only without the temple! Last year I had a pretty potted plant sitting on top of it, but this year I ran out of funds to purchase extra flowers, so it's just been standing at the corner of the deck. I should really just put it away until next year!

@olivetreeann I've got one like that and put it in the garden with a potted plant on it - the flower is perennial and has lasted for 2 years!

@maggiemae I used to have tons of potted plants. I wintered them in our crawl space. But the first year that Jeff put the dehumidifier down there, I didn't realize what it would do to them. It sucked out all the moisture and killed every last one. So, I'll be slowly replacing them when I can- and now they winter in my shed.

@eniaral Thanks Laraine! I don't think Grey Towers would have one in this condition! (o:
