Part of the challenge Freeman Patterson has put forth in his section on "imagining" focuses on picturing a shot in your mind before you take it, setting it up and following through with the picture. I just purchased a mop to clean our new wood floor and thought its neon green "bristles" would be a nice compliment to my Little Piggy's bright pink skin. Patterson suggested using focus to create interest by blurring the edges and keeping the subject in focus, or vice=versa.
It seems my camera did not want cooperate with my plans today. I couldn't seem to get it to blur the edges and keep Piggy in focus. I was able to accomplish that in post-processing but I lost the contrast in the colors when I did that. So after trying a few things (and failing!) I settled for color over focus and I'm pleased with the result.
Thank you Lisa, Kerri, Yao, Brian, Taffy, Michael, Dione, Howard, Katie, and Alia! Glad you enjoyed my little romp with a pig and a broom. FYI- the working title of this shot was "Glow in the Dark Piggy"!
@daisy Thanks Kathryn! @allie912 Thank you Allison! I usually don't worry about these aspects but the exercises are designed to go with what the author is writing about in each section. So the idea is to practice those principles in particular way.
