This is what I would call a "natural" black and white. It's an old door knob in the manse which I did shoot in color, having every intention to convert it to black and white. But, when I did that, no matter how I tried to process it, all texture and depth was lost in the photo. I finally gave up and left it as is, using only the sharpen and contrast features in Ribbet to define the picture. It made more sense to me that way, after all, it is black AND white (and maybe a little gray).
Thank you Teresa, Kerri, Nicole, Timothy, Alia, Brigette, and Sally! I just took a quick look at my calendar and I find it fascinating that although my mind knows this is really a color shot, how it really reads as another black and white next to all the "true" black and white shots there! Thanks for all the views and comments- they really mean so much to me!
I know just what you mean about losing something when you convert what seems to already be a black and white image to b&w, that's happened to me a couple of times. Looks great as it is!
Old and bold ... for some reason these 2 words came to my mind when I saw this photo. Funny how the mind works :-) Anyway you captured some great textures and it really stands out!
@kaesebiscuit Thanks Mr. B! I'd never had that happen before, but it was interesting to "learn" that sometimes you don't have to convert to b/w to make a shot b/w. Good to see a comment from you again! Somehow we got off track...life! @sangwann Thanks Dione! @daisymiller Thanks Daisy! @cimes1 Thank you Carole! Yes, true- some things get triggered by what we see because our brains are wired that way.
@taffy Thank you Taffy!
