This week the book club is looking at different elements of visual design used in photography: shape, tone, volume & form, and texture. I haven't read the book yet, but I decided to start out with texture even though I'm not sure if I'll stick with it for the entire week. As I thought about texture this morning, the first word that popped into my head was "rough", which made me think about emery boards. I was hoping for a rougher "feel" to this shot, but I'm still pleased with the way it came out.
Very nice close-up, Ann. I love the contrasts and artful focus. How do you think it would look flipped 90 degrees in either direction, with a bit of a dark vignette?
@rangerxenos Thanks Dawn! @donhoupt Thanks Don! I like that idea and I'm going to try it in my second album! @salza Thanks Sally! You should have seen me trying to figure out which one should be turned- and then turning it. With all the scratchy surfaces none of them wanted to cooperate! @pflaume Thank you Lisa! @alia_801 Thank you Alia! And thank you so much for the fav! @sangwann Thank you Dione! @paulavdmerwe Thank you Paula! @allie912 Thank you Allison! @digitalrn Thank you Rick! @daisymiller Thank you Daisy! @eudora Thanks Diane! @la_photographic Thanks Laura! @taffy Thanks Taffy! @prttblues Thank you Bev!
Thanks to all! This one was fun to conceive and then to shoot.
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! @twinsplusone Thanks Sharon! @archaeofrog Thanks Katie! I'm not sure I can adjust the aperture on my point and shoot. I'll have to read the manual. But I ended up happy with it this way.
