The tulips caught my fancy today. They are beginning to open up and the colors are really beautiful.
I decided to continue working with "filters" as I processed my black and white shot today. This picture was originally shot in color (a red tulip), then converted to black and white using a "green" filter. It was interesting to see the different effects different colors had on the intensity of the red. A red or orange filter caused the red petals to be "washed out". Yellow and blue filters put them in a more neutral gray tone. But the green filter really brought out a rich spectrum of grays so that is the color which I applied to the shot. I sharpened it and added some shadowing back in.
Thank you one and all! It certainly has been a month of exploration with black and white this time around. Thanks for all the input of the different effects I've used!
@alia_801 Surprisingly the contrast of the black center is powerful in both the color and black and white versions- but that is the natural effect of black and red together anyway- power colors and all that!
@bruni Thanks Bruni! I hope you had a wonderful vacation with your daughter!
@daisymiller Thanks Daisy- always feel free to ask. Most of the time I use Ribbet. It's a free on-line processing site. I do not own Photoshop or Light Room and I have no budget to buy them! So, I use anything that's free!
