A family of wrens was chattering away outside on my deck today. So I grabbed the new Canon and tested out the zoom again when they flew up into a nearby tree. The only thing I did to this shot was add the frame. I'm impressed how well it came out in spite of the difficulty of following these quick little birds.
@sarasdadandmom I heard them making a racket outside my sliding door, so I grabbed my camera and sat on a chair on the deck hoping to get a shot. At first I was trying to follow every single move, then I finally realized it would be a lot easier to determine where they were the most and aim the camera in that direction and wait until they came into the frame. Thanks Terry! I'm really proud of this one!
@stownsend Thank you Suzie! I am loving this camera and would highly recommend it. It is not as compact as most p & s but the zoom is fantastic and some of the creative modes are really fun to work with. I was tempted to go with Olympus as they have a similar kind that costs less but after using the other little Canon Power Shot for so many years, I decided I didn't want to deal with learning a totally new system so I stuck with Canon in the end. I'm so glad I did. Did I say I LOVE this camera?! LOL @sarah19 Thank you Sarah! They are but they are NOISY!!
@espyetta Thanks Marybeth! Yes!! I made an amazing discovery two weeks ago when I was cleaning out one of my desk drawers- an envelope full of money!! I think it was last year's birthday, Christmas etc. gift money that I'd set aside and (believe it or not) forgot about! I had also received a stipend for speaking at a church recently. Put the 2 together and I had just enough to buy the new Canon Power Shot SX50 HS- the top of their p & s line. So now I can actually take a great shot without the worries of a DSLR. But that's not all! I also have a Canon Rebel EOS T3i on loan to me from Vikki Summerfield. She blew me away at our meet-up by announcing that since she now has the 60D I should start practicing on her EOS and hands over this awesome camera plus two lenses. Wow! I am struggling with understanding the manual though- so I may look into classes or some sort of DVD that I can play over and over again until I get it! So, it's been a pretty exciting month in my photographic world! Thanks again for sharing the enthusiasm!!
Fantastic shot, Ann! Love the little bird. Excellent job with your zoom!! That's the only way to get shots of the birds because you can't get close enough or they'll fly away! I love your camera!! Fav :)
@wordsmith Thank you Teresa! @vickisfotos Thank you Vicki! @alia_801 Thank you Alia! Yes, they really do! But I also had five of them flying around here that afternoon, so I had more than one target to choose from! @fullcircle Thanks Cindy! Yes, they were aware of me. I was sitting on my deck and they were darting around the bird feeder, then on the ground, then on the wood pile and finally up in this tree. That's when I think they finally felt like I couldn't get them with that mysterious black thing. @prttblues Thank you Bev! I love my camera too!! (o: @vesna0210 Thank you Vesna!
