My balloon ride had to be THE best birthday present I ever received!! I can't tell you how amazing it was- there are just not enough words in the English language to describe it. But you know what they say about pictures and what they're worth!
Oh how amazing and what an experience. Love this pic with all the green in the background as they really highlight the beautiful colours and shapes on the balloon.
You are braver then me. I have a fear of heights. Beautiful shot. I have seen lots on here from the ground up but think these are the first of the other.
Awesome, they are fabulous aren't they. We did one when in Orlando 2003 we all loved it the girls were only 5 and 8. It was an awesome holiday just a shame I wasn't so good at photography and also I was using film back then
Stunning capture. And a perfect way to celebrate a birthday! We took a hot air balloon trip at Sossusvlei in Namibia, nearly 15 years ago and well before I had taken up photography. It was lovely seeing the desert from above.
I am SO jealous!! I want to go up in a hot air balloon! I've taken plenty from the ground but never from the angle you got. Great shot, Ann! This is beautiful! Fav!
Thank you so much!!! I'm so glad you enjoyed this shot- it was an incredible experience to be able to take it.
A special thanks to all who fav'd it as well. It's one of my favorites from the day too.
@joansmor@aat3877 I know how you feel Joan and Ann as I can get queasy even from a picture of great heights! So I had told myself that I was not going to pay attention to the butterflies and focus on the picture taking and basically live with it, After all, when would I get an opportunity like this again?! BUT I was completely surprised by the reality! I never felt queasy with the exception of the moment we passed over the edge of the gorge. Some balloons were going down into the gorge, others coming up and the sense of their motion gave me a quick flutter but after that- I didn't feel a thing! The reason is that the ride is quite gentle and since you are moving with the air currents there is no windy or bumpy feeling. You glide smoothly across the sky and it's really quite wonderful! The basket also comes up above the waist- sort of mid-torso so you never have the feeling that you're going to fall out either. If you ever do have the opportunity- go for it!! It's amazing.
@janewinfrey Thanks Jane! It was truly awesome and I had to tell myself to actually put the camera down every once in a while so that I would really experience it- not just photograph it!
