A Great Grandma Moment by olivetreeann

A Great Grandma Moment

I was asked to take some family shots of my daughter-in-law's family while we were together over the holidays. I'm always uncomfortable doing portraits but I did a decent job without all the studio lights and other stuff that folks who do this well have! This shot was a candid moment between set-ups and I just loved how the generations were represented here. Little Marco is adorable and Great Grandma was certainly enjoying the moment as they watched the activity.

Thank you very much everyone! I did my best although uncomfortable with the pressure. If I catch a candid portrait it's fine because I don't have to think about it! But when you have to pose people, check the lighting and work with whatever light is available, deal with other family members taking flash shots at the same time, and somewhat cramped shooting quarters- well, I was hoping I'd get a few good shots but wasn't sure that I would get them. The family was happy to get anything, but being the perfectionist that I am, I wanted them to be, well...perfect! I think all in all I got enough shots that they'll be happy with and a few shots like this that will be a nice document of the day. Now I have to put everything on a CD and mail it out to them.

I hear you, my sons asked if I wanted to take a real picture on Christmas And let me pose them. I loved the thought but hated the picture and really enjoy my snapshots a lot more.

@pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! I feel so obligated to do well, but really portraits are not my forte, nor my choice!
