Our camera club will be setting up a display this weekend as part of a winter festival in Stroudsburg. We can exhibit 1 or 2 winter shots, so I've been trying to decide all week which shots I'll print and frame. Since portraits are one of the choices we can make for black and white this week, I decided to revisit a shot I'd taken last year of an ice carver. I didn't use the histogram on this one! But I did pay closer attention to bringing out the frozen ice crystals on his coat, lightened up his face some and brought out the details in the carving to the point where I am much happier with the shot than I was when I processed it in color last year.
This is great, I like the expression on his face. Choocing is always hard but you are lucky to be able to make it, having your pics part a display is awesome!
The overall details and especially the expression on the man's face, showing how hard he is working on that beautiful swan makes it such an interesting shot to watch.
My most gracious thanks to all of you! I've made my decision about my pictures and I'll have them printed and framed tomorrow. Then the reception on Friday night and some night photography too. It's a busy but fun week. Thanks for all the great feedback and favs!
