@ludwigsdiana@ninaganci@pyrrhula This sign indicates that there is a rail road crossing ahead (R and R for railroad X for crossing). It is posted slightly before the tracks to warn drivers to be on the alert for on-coming trains. There are also lights that blink and gates that come down to block the passage over the tracks until the train passes. They start before the train gets to this point, but it isn't long before the train gets there. They travel fast! This track is active but not on a regular basis. I have never been stopped for a train here. But I have been stopped at other parts of this track.
Thanks again to all for taking the time to check in on my O's!
Growing up in Wyoming there were coal trains and oil tankers and lumber loads. Every time our school bus came to one of these the driver had to stop, put it in park, open the door and look both ways before proceeding.
@pandorasecho They have to do that here as well- except they don't need to look out the door now with the big mirrors they have on the sides of the buses. Thanks Dixie!
