When Milo enters Expectations, he is greeted by a quirky little man, dressed in a long robe, who has the habit of repeating himself.
"My, my, my, my, my, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, to the land of Expectations, to the land of Expectations, to the land of Expectations. We don't get many travelers these days; we certainly don't get many travelers these days. Now, what can I do for you? I'm the Whether Man."
I love to travel and wish that I could do it more often!
@digitalrn Thanks Rick- I took this on the way to church this AM. It was really foggy and it gave the shot a really nice mood. @melorac haha Carole-- you had me chuckling there!!
Like the sepia tone and the overlay. Brings back memories of the dark room I worked in, printing black and white photos. Developed and printed a lot of Kodak TRI-X 400 back in the day, both 35mm and 4 by 5.
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @daveanajao Thank you Dave- it was a great shot for that- very foggy and grey this morning. I had taken the shot in black and white, but it translated to sepia really well and just "felt" better with the map. @rhubbard Thanks Richard. That must have been fun working in the dark room. In the early 80's I had a friend with a dark room and did some developing then. But haven't processed since, until I was introduced to Picnik. It's not the same, but still fun. Glad you like the sepia. The shot was black and white, but when I put the map over it, I decided to change it to sepia. It looked so much better that way. @karenann Thank you Karenann. I do wish I could travel more. But being unemployed sort of keeps the funding for those adventures at bay. Too bad I can't be paid to travel!
Great shot for your word - I love the framing too - really matches the pic well. The tree at the side of the road looks a little spooky too, which fits in nicely.
@summerfield Thank you Summerfield! Originally, I was going to use a picture of an RV that I had taken, but it was just too boring, so I went back to this shot and started playing around with it in Picnik.
@cimes1 Thank you Carole- but it's not my tale! It's already been published. The author is Norton Juster and the book is The Phantom Tollbooth. It's a children's book and is celebrating it's 50th anniversary this year. It was a favorite of my boys when they were growing up. If you look at the first picture of this challenge, you'll see my copy sitting on top of a map (October 1 of the themes and challenges album). I do like to tell stories and I can write a tale or two, but here I must give credit where credit is due!
@melorac haha Carole-- you had me chuckling there!!
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen!
I appreciate your comments very much.
