A few months ago, our little friend from church, Olivia, asked Jeff if he would play a song for her on the guitar so that she could sing it for the church. Olivia and her sister live with their grandparents and the people of our church have become their second family. After practicing together for a few weeks, Jeff and Olivia performed today. Olivia was so excited to sing for the church she wasn't going to let anything stop her- not even a cold! And she was even more excited when her favorite teacher showed up to hear her sing too. I know this is not the best picture in the world but I was so proud of her, I just had to post the shot here. Isn't she adorable!?
It's a wonderful picture of both of them. Love the bank of poinsettias. How supportive you all are. She will gain so much confidence from this experience.
I just love music...and watching the young people strive to use it. Chris used to always say...if you have been given the gift of music, you should share it with others. I like this that Jeff got involved as well. She'll never forget this day....
@bk12racing Thanks so much Mike! @lisjam1 Thanks Lisabell! I appreciate that!
@allie912 Thank you Allison- the poinsettias are a really beautiful red. I must say she was on cloud 9. She just adores Jeff! @kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @summerfield Definitely Vikki- I put it up purely for its emotional connection to me! @mrssmith Thank you Carla- Chris was 100% right! And I love it when Jeff uses it this way especially.
She's beautiful and the two of them look great up there together. I'll bet that they sounded wonderful together. This picture is what the holiday season is all about, Ann. This a a moment that this young girl will never forget . . how kind of the church family to embrace this family.
@digitalrn It was adorable Rick- she was all stuffed up and sang off key but it was precious! And we all loved it just the same as if Jackie Evanco was singing up there. @sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry- this is one of Jeff's little sweethearts. He (we) loves her as if she was one of our grandchildren. So he was tickled to play for her while she sang. @karenann Thanks Karenann- yes, they were a sweet picture. Poor Olivia had a stuffy head and cough, but she sang like a trooper. Jeff ( and me too) really loves her and her sister, so he was pleased as punch to accompany her. And that is one of the strengths of this church- they are supportive of one another that way.
I like that she knew that he would play with her and then asked - then spent the time practising with her - our greatest treasure are our yound people - thank yous to Jeff - it is a wonderful picture
@prttblues Thank you Bev! It's ok- it definitely has some flaws- look at the top of Jeff's head for instance. But the other one I took was just a little out of focus, so I went with this one instead. @bkbinthecity Thanks Brian. Olivia is such a dear and she loves to worship and sing. @friendie Thanks Carole. Children truly are a gift from the Lord and it's quite a special thing to be able to encourage them and to give them wings to fly.
@annaruth Thank you Anna. I have a feeling if you met Olivia and told her about your experiences in the World Race that she'd want to do that too! At this young age it is very evident that she has a heart for God and serving Him. It's beautiful!
@pandorasecho Thanks Dixie- yes, this little girl loves music! @alia_801 Thanks Alia- she did blend right in. Her grandma always has both her and her sister dressed in the prettiest dresses! @woot Thanks Davide! @nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! You can't see it in this picture but her shoes are glittery and cute little heels. I always look at these sweet dresses and sparkly shoes and think, "I now know why God gave me sons. I would have put us in the poor house buying all these cute little outfits!"
She is adorable and this is a lovely photo in beautiful surroundings. Reminds of the altar when my daughter got married in 1991 with all the poinsettias.

Olivia is a sweetheart- and really has a sweet heart. We are happy to be a part of her life!
