The alphabet is referred to in most languages as the ABCs. In German it's das ABC. In Spanish it's el abecedario. Recent archaeological discoveries show that it could easily have ended up being called the LMNs- the elemen-tary. It was discovered that the ancient Semetic alphabet was divided into two halves; the first beginning with aleph (which became our A) and the second beginning with lamech (which eventually became our L). Whether it's the ABCs or LMNs, our alphabet is an interesting, creative and useful invention!
I love your abc's someday I would like to take on the challenge of finding them too!

@httpgeffed You should Colleen- there's so many interesting art pieces out your way that your alphabet would have some unique photos! You can do this anytime.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri- my husband had set it down by the side of the house the other day and I think he forgot it was there!
@karenann You can do this challenge anytime Karenann. Start it tomorrow or next week and go into March. It's fun!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! I had four different things I'd taken pictures of for C! I came back from swimming, soaking wet, and I'm walking around the house in the cold looking for C's because the one I took last night was too typical for me! lol If you're loco, then I'm mucho loco!
@allie912 Thanks Allison. I just have to put something there!
@dmariewms Thanks Marie!
@digitalrn Thanks Rick!

@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole!
@alia_801 Thanks Alia- I just felt like adding something interesting to my commentary rather than saying, "I found this bungee cord on the ground and thought it looked a C." (o: I'll be posting more stuff about the alphabet which I found on the internet. It just seemed like a fun thing to do.
@inertie Merci Inertia! Merci beaucoups! (I wished I remembered more French!)
@woot This is proving to be a fun challenge Davide- and I can absolutely see you being a master at finding the letters!
@cimes1 Thanks Carole. Yes- this began when Alia said I should design a challenge for us to do. I'd seen several people do them during my first year and always thought it would be fun, so that's how it came about. We started Feb. 1 but you can do it at any time. Feel free to start now and go into the first few days of March. The "rules" should show up somewhere in the recent archives of discussions or competitions. I'm not sure where I posted it. The tag is Febalphabet. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!
@sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry! It really was just lying on the ground like that. I think Jeff forgot to pick up one of his toys! lol

@prttblues Thanks Bev- I try! I think your light pictures are quite creative too!

@olivetreeann Thanks, Ann. One of my other 365 friends Hope Russell did this last year and came up with so many creative ideas. I like the way you are tying it in with the history of the alphabet. I'm so into nature shots that I'm afraid I would be interrupting the sequence if I spotted something else. It's hard for me to stay with one theme for any length of time. Look fwd to seeing the rest.
February 5th, 2012
@cimes1 Thanks Carole- just a thought- you can find them in nature too. I have a really cool tree I've spotted for W.

@olivetreeann Thanks for the tip....will open my eyes to this possibility ;-0
