Historic Boston Collage

Problem: Sooo many shots from Boston and sooo little time!
Solution: Sum up some of those exciting tourist spots with a collage.

Boston is a truly historic and significant city in American history. Here are some of its most famous faces and places.

Upper left: A marble bust of Thomas Jefferson made in 1789 by the artist Jean-Antoine Houdon, whom Jefferson met during his diplomatic days. It is thought that Jefferson had a terra cotta version displayed in his home at Monticello, but that statue has never been found. This one is on display at the Museum of Fine Arts.

Upper right hand corner: The cast for the Paul Revere statue by Cyrus Dallin in Arlington; a portrait of John Hancock on the memorial erected to mark his grave; and the George Washington statue in Boston's Public Garden. It's very imposing!

Lower left hand corner: The silhouette of Samuel Adam's Statue in front of Fanuiel Hall. The dedication reads, "Samuel Adams- patriot. 1722-1803 He organized the Revolution and signed the Declaration of Independence."; A path of golden horseshoes marks the Ride of Paul Revere in Cambridge; and the statue of John Harvard in Harvard Square. It also bears the nickname "The Statue of 3 Lies" because of its inscription. In truth, the statue is not modeled after John Harvard, John Harvard was not the founder of the school- he was a benefactor, and the school was founded in 1636 not 1638 as the placard claims.

Lower right hand corner: The Memorial to Robert Gould Shaw and the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment by Augustus Saint-Goudens. This brave group of servicemen served in the Union Army during the Civil War and was the first official black unit of the United States. The memorial is part of the Black History Trail which intersects with the Freedom Trail at the Massachusetts State House.

From this collage, I'd say you got to see a lot of Boston in the time you were here! - it was pretty hot and humid - I was hoping you'd have some cooler weather for all your sightseeing!

@sparkleplenty1 Thanks Joyce- your suggestions helped guide on a couple occasions. We got the City Pass and used that too. The humidity did me in on a couple days. But we had air conditioning back at the house and we were always glad for that!
