For all the stories of loss and grief this storm brought upon us, there are also stories of generosity and sacrifice. I think that calamities such as Hurricane Sandy tend to bring out both the worst and best in people. For example, we heard of athletes who had come to NYC for the marathon that complained and groaned when the event had to be cancelled. We also heard of athletes who rolled up their sleeves and went out to help in the relief efforts. We heard of people who drove past power company crews screaming and cursing. We also heard of crews that came from Georgia and many other states to help in the massive endeavor of restoring power. The best and the worst- you can see it all- but which will you choose to be? Thankfully we are blessed with fantastic friends whose power was restored two days before ours. They insisted we come and stay on Saturday, so we did. This lovely blue sky greeted me on Sunday morning through their window. I really did feel like things were looking up!
Please do not feel obligated to respond to this massive upload. I will once again be off the site for a few days and I'm trying to get caught up so that I can fall behind once more!
@summerfield Thanks Vikkip- it's a beautiful room. At night we had a gorgeous view of the moon and stars through this window. Ahhhhhh!!! I wish I had a camera that could take those pictures!! I must be patient- someday I will.
Thank you Kerri, Sally, Bev, Alia, and Carole! I'm glad to be back too- and safe as well!
