Today's Mull Over March word is technically mother but I decided to extend the Mother's Day celebration to my grandmother. I love this shot of her because of the unique setting where this lesson takes place. I'm not quite sure of the actual location. However, the great thing is that we still have the mandolin! The mandolin was a very popular instrument in the early 1900's and Gramma was even in a mandolin orchestra is high school. From this picture it looks like she really enjoyed giving lessons too.
What a great shot, Ann. It's very lovely to see the joy on their faces. It's nice that you have a photo to capture the memory. And that's cool you still have the mandolin! Well done, Ann! :)
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! Actually after I'd posted it, Jeff came in and was looking at the picture. He pointed to the lady on the left and said, "That's not a mandolin. It has four strings- it looks like a ukelele." Sure enough! I've been so focused on Gramma, that I didn't realize they were performing on the roof top!
Thank you Lisa, Caroline, Colleen, Brian, Tracy, Jo, Jennifer, Dione, and Bev. I've always enjoyed my family history and so glad you're enjoying it too!
