Ok- enough with the sentimental reminiscing! It's time for the funnier side of my life. I confess that I can be rather lazy. I plant bulb flowers in my garden because once they're planted, you don't have to do anything else to them. I tend to buy the pre-shredded carrots and pre-washed salad bags because I don't like to stand around chopping and slicing things most of the time. In High School, if I didn't need to bring it home right away I'd find a spot for it in my locker. By the end of my senior year I had quite a collection in there! One day, just before school was out for the summer, my friend Wendy and I had nothing to do. So we decided to take an inventory of all the things that were in my locker! Believe it or not I still have her hand printed inventory! Here's what we counted:
Junk in Ann's Locker-
One handout describing mordanting and wool dying
Directions on how to assemble a loom
2 clay figurines
1 bag of cherry bark (5 pieces approx. 15-20" ea.)
1 History book
Assorted poetry for English
Short Stories by Hemmingway
1 Chieftan (the high school yr. book)
The Great Wall of China by Kafka (I don't even remember reading this!)
Notes on Extentialism for English
History notebook
English Lit. Book
1 James Caldwell Art Store sign (a joke someone stuck in there- keep reading you'll see why)
2 valentines
1 plastic wreath
1 piece of stationary (writing paper)
1 box of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies (still my favorites!)
3 paper cups
7 egg holder sections from the bottom of an egg carton (no, I don't remember why I had them)
All 1972-1973 Caldrons (the school literary magazine)
10 Winnie the Pooh tickets (five yellow and five green)
1 AAA traffic pamphlet (but I didn't get my license until much later!)
4 pieces of scrap paper
1 paper on the American Dream
4 Board of Education flyers (not really sure what they were for either!)
1 picture by Helene (a friend who did these awesome circular drawings)
Notes on the Poetic Process
1 Thermos Bottle for Iced Tea
1 List of Miss Minisink contestants (I think that was something for our youth group retreat)
Notes on the Seventh Seal
1 bag plaster of paris
1 pop art picture
1 exam schedule
5 paint brushes
1 bottle of gloss polymer medium
9 tubes of Liquidtex (assorted hues)
7 balls of yarn
1 box of D & P Rock Candy
1 Mixed Nuts tin (no more nuts )o; )
1 English grammar book
1 envelope
(1 item I can no longer read because the paper is too crumpled at the bottom)
4 Guidance bulletins
1 Note from Eva
1 English assignment
5 Kleenex
Simplicity pattern 9778
1 History test
Assorted passes
1 wrapper of Girl Scout Cookies
a list of paint brushes
1 gym suit (they were hideous!!
sneakers
1 Kodak camera
5 ceramic plates (I made them in pottery as a gift for my mother)
1 purse with contents
As I Lay Dying (by William Faulkner)
Theater Arts exam
Theater Arts notes
2001 Space Odyssey (I don't remember reading this either!)
3 squares pieces of matt board
1 large box to carry the plates in
1 weaving made in art class (approx. 18" wide and 4' long)
1 History exam
2 pounds undyed wool
and...
A description of Raku pottery
Look at it all stuffed in there!! I don't even remember how I got it all home. But boy did I have fun filling it up!
Processed in iPiccy and turned into Pop Art in honor of the era I graduated both high school and college in.
WOW! Cool shot! I don't know what's more interesting, the stuff in that locker or that you still had the list! My friend and I had a potted plant growing in our locker senior year!
Thank you Kerri, Lisa, Taffy, Alia, Rick, Sally and Francoise! Still have the list, of course!! Do you think someone who put all that stuff in her locker would actually think of throwing something away?? LOL Actually it was such a monumental feat that I felt compelled to keep a permanent record of it!
@daisymiller Thank you Daisy! Great? I don't know- crazy might be a better description! @pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! I was skinny then too, but I don't think I'd have fit in the locker anyway.
