I had the immense privilege of photographing the official and final step of an adoption today. I was asked by the family to photograph the event. It had been two very long years with many ups and downs but today, the struggles came to an end and they are now legally a family! I was given a special court waiver which allowed me to take pictures in the courtroom- very cool! I'm not sure if I'll post any of them here but suffice it to say, it was an extremely rewarding event to watch! As we were leaving the court house I saw this insignia on the wall and the words really seemed to fit the day- with one addition!
What a wonderful day for the new family. Such an emotional and time consuming process. Nice shot and addition of the background. I liked the above suggestion/ idea of making this an album cover for their private and personal photographs of the day!
What a lovely thought. We know about adoptions, and it is a lovely and rewarding day when they are finally and irrevocably finalized. This is a perfect plaque for the event.
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @allie912 Thank you Allison! You are very kind! @littleconnie Thank you Connie! @nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole! It really was an honor. @cruiser Thank you Chris! That is certainly true and it was very evident in the proceedings. @robz Thanks Rob! It will definitely be featured but I took another one that I think will be the cover shot of the album I plan to make. I could post that one here as it does not have any people in it either. We'll see once I've worked on it... @netkonnexion Thank you Damon! It was really special to see the judge, the advocate and the case-worker all express a genuine love for this child and his adoption journey. I think they were just as pleased as the family, so the addition of "love" really did tie into the motto. @louannwarren Thank you Lou Ann! @30pics4jackiesdiamond Thank you Jackie- yes, I'd have to agree with you. I think I was leaning in that direction to begin with. It's nice to get the feedback here. It confirms what I'd already been thinking. @grammyn Thank you Katy! So kind of you to say! @henrir Thank you Henri! I know you worked in the court system, so I imagine you know something of what it's like to see a "happy ending" for a change. @skipt07 Thank you Skip and thank you so much for the fav! @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian! @gardenfolk Thank you CC! I took another shot which also does not involve people that I thought would be a fun cover for the book I plan to make. Maybe when I start working on the book, I'll post that here. This one will also be featured, but in a different way. @aglennc Thank you Anita! It did seem to summarize the legal aspect of the journey- especially for this particular child. It was also special to see how much the court representatives had come to care for the child too. I think they were just as excited as the family. @randystreat Thank you Kathy!
FYI- one special thing the mom did was to create a white board where people could write out a message of love, a congratulations, or any message they'd like. I then took a picture of that person holding their message. This picture is going to be my message among all the ones I took of family and friends.
What an honour to be part of this happy occasion and to be asked to take some photographs. the addition to the plaque is perfect. so much LOVE all around,
